Academics
In addition to career training, Trapper Creek Job Corps also provides academic training, including basic reading and math. Courses in independent living, employability skills, and social skills are offered in order to help students transition into the workplace. We also have several academic programs to help our students achieve their full potential.
GED/High School Diploma
One of our top goals at Trapper Creek Job Corps is to ensure that every qualified student obtains his or her GED/high school diploma prior to leaving the center. Students who don't already have a high school diploma upon their arrival at Trapper Creek can enroll in our GED program. The GED program provides training on the five subject area GED tests: writing, reading, social studies, science, and math. GED training is individualized to meet the specific needs of each student.
Students who complete the GED program can also earn their high school diplomas through our Trapper Creek Job Corps High School program. To qualify for this program, a student must have a copy of his/her previous high school transcript. Any credits that a student has prior to coming to our center will count toward the 24 needed to earn a high school diploma. A document outlining the requirements of a Trapper Creek Job Corps High School diploma (25 kb PDF file) is available.
Driver's Education
Trapper Creek works to ensure that every graduate has their driver’s license before leaving Job Corps. Our Driver’s Education program is offered several times a year and includes classroom and behind the wheel instruction.
The Driver’s Education instructor help students in getting the necessary permissions and documentation needed for obtaining a Montana state driver’s license, including resolving any issues related to the loss of their license and driving privileges. Each student will need to have his/her original birth certificate to apply for his/her driver’s license.
First Aid/CPR
First Aid and CPR training is a requirement for several career technical training fields offered at our center. In this training, students learn the skills of primary assessment, bleeding control, shock management, and illness and injury assessments. Upon successful completion of a written test and a practical CPR test, students receive a Medic First Aid Card.
Water Safety
This program is available to all students during their first two weeks at our center. Through this program, non-swimmers have the opportunity to learn to swim. Our swimming training meets the standards of the American Red Cross .
